Our first dinner & apartment

This is an example of how the storage space works in our apartment. Under the bathroom sink is always stocked up with stuff. There are not any closets to put it in.

You can bet our closet is a deluxe walk in closet. It's not nearly big enough but luckily we have a storage unit outside that houses half my wardrobe.

This is my favorite purchase we made because our books and such were all over the floor before this came along.

Our kitchen table only has 3 chairs. It gives it character right? And it houses a vase that cost more than the table and forked up art. That's what that thing is called, for real. I can't make that up.

The Kitchen Aid is the best. I love the color. One day it will go even better with the dream kitchen I have all ready for myself in my non-existent dream house. A girl can dream.

The freezer is always this full. It doesn't empty because then I fill it.

So I first made dinner for Tyler. It was spaghetti. He hates spaghetti so that was funny. But he ate the whole thing. And I tried not to make spaghetti after that too much.
There's the grande tour. (Grande with an E, yes, because it is sophisticated.) Come by anytime! Really, I would love a visitor or 2.

Chicken Tortilla Soup

Okay so I make a few things really well. I know this because Tyler eats them up and asks for me to make enough for leftovers. (Or at least hints for me to make leftovers).
Here's one of our favorites.

Chicken Tortilla Soup (and the best part...) In a Crock Pot

Ingredients

1 pound shredded, cooked chicken (Recipe follows)
1 (15 ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes, mashed (I cheat and use whatever is in the pantry which is always Italian style tomatoes)
1 (10 ounce) can enchilada sauce (Red sauce)
1 medium onion, chopped (I skip this one)
1 (4 ounce) can chopped green chile peppers (I use a whole green pepper cut up and then I take it out before we eat, but if you like spicy, go for it.)
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups water
1 (14.5 ounce) can chicken broth
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 bay leaf (I don't use this because I don't know what it is)
1 (10 ounce) package frozen corn (I just use a can)
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro

You can add beans and rice if you want it to be thick. It is pretty thick to begin with. We do one package of RiceSides Mexican rice and it is perfect.

Directions

Place chicken, tomatoes, enchilada sauce, onion, green chiles, and garlic into a slow cooker. Pour in water and chicken broth, and season with cumin, chili powder, salt, pepper, and bay leaf. Stir in corn and cilantro. Cover, and cook on Low setting for 6 to 8 hours or on High setting for 3 to 4 hours.

For the shredded chicken:
Take about 3 chicken breasts and cut into smaller pieces. They don't have to be bite size but just in strips. Boil the can of tomatoes and 2 cups of water. If it is not enough to cover the chicken, add more water. Boil the chicken for 15 minutes in the pot. Make sure it is not pink before it is done. When it is cooked through, remove the chicken. If you didn't have to add water, then you can just dump out the tomatoes and water into the crock pot. If not, just remove the chicken and try to get the tomatoes out and you can take the water and use it as the 2 cups for the recipe. However you'd like to do it.
Take the chicken and put into a mixing bowl (note: I use a plastic one because I hate the noise that a fork makes at the bottom of a bowl). Shred the chicken with a fork. Just try it and you will see how easy it really is.

Voila! There is your meal. We add a tiny bit of cheese to our individual bowls and a tiny bit of sour cream. The sour cream goes a long way so be careful.

Hot dates much?

So last weekend I went on a hot date.
It consisted of a bike ride to Utah Lake. (All 14 miles.)
(My butt hurt from the bike seat and I complained. Poor Tylers).
Then we went to Osaka in downtown Provo and sat in the little room and laughed so hard over something that I dont remember now.
Saturday night we went to Blue Lemon and then went and had a campfire with the Schaats.
They are way cute and we had a really good time even though my hair caught on fire.

Campfire.
Cows on the side of the Provo River trail.
Leaves in our eyes but don't call us leaf eyes.
The best part of the trail.
This is us. (Sorry that it is scandalous.) I think it's funny.
He is probably the definition of cool. Probably.

Lucy Lucy Lou I love you!

Milo's getting a book read to him by "Tylers"

We can make the same faces
And she sleeps in your armpit. And she likes it!
I love this child. Especially when she isn't screaming.

Dear Lucy,
Please stay 9 pounds forever. But learn to sleep through the night. Your mommy and daddy would appreciate it.
Love,
Aunt Ashey

This is Halloween.

Waiting for me to get ready... with a gun tucked into his pants.
He couldn't smile with the stache.

We all took turns with the mustache. Gracie was little orphan Annie.
Ava's turn, but we all had to call her princess or Snow White.
Lucy and me. She was Foofa from Yo Gaba Gaba. Her costume lasted about 30 minutes.

How did we spend our Halloween?
At the hottest spot in town.
On my sisters couch and trick or treated with my nieces.
We dressed up of course and might I add, Tyler was the best cowboy in these here parts of town. And the whole make my costume on the day of Halloween turned out quite well.
Hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween!

I have Christmas shopping already all lusted after. I am now just waiting to see what I am going to narrow it down to. My sister told me today that she thinks I have an online shopping addiction. (Who doesn't, the mall makes me tired anyway... Just ask Tyler who thinks its a ridiculous statement.) So I am thinking of ideas and I am scanning these websites to check some things out. I decided to be nice and share and if you see anything that I get you on these, then sorry for spilling my beans!

See Ya Shaney Bear!

So Shane is leaving on his mission tomorrow morning.
He is serving in the Anaheim, California Mission. Spanish speaking.
So happy for him, but two years without him will be less funny, thats for sure.
Good luck Bear!

When Brody, Shane and Trevor invaded my dorm.
No shock that something was broken when they left.
Then tore a whole in our CEILING. Seriously? How is that possible?
JS face.

Lake Powell
The Rock
Alex left.
The broken mirror night that no one will ever forget.
Typical.
Last kisses for 2 years!

YES! Captured the "Shaneous" on film!
Shordan, Capote, Alejandra (oh she came back. ha) and Trace.

All About Ingrid.

So here's another who I have adored musically, then seeing in person I thought, hey I want to be your best friend, in the totally non creeperton, I don't stalk you or anything- sort of way.
Too dang bad. Maybe if I stalked, I would have more success in the musically inclined, famous best friends. But then again, who's more fun than my best friends?

For the record, I am back in the business of getting the stupidest parking tickets if anyone wants to compare notes.
(AND this sign was not facing the entrance, just the exit, how was I supposed to be looking backwards while driving? Stupid. Oh well.)
Revisiting the "Peace Out" days.
We parked in a dark parking lot and we needed a last picture, ya know, just in case.
Half the fun of the show was the girls behind us in line. They were having the strangest conversations.

This song won my heart over in the friends contest. Tracy and I decided she could join us and Kylie for our usual Mama Chus outings.

Bean Museum

"If you touch the animals, they come alive."
Sophie, the most independent 16 month old.
I promise that we were re-interpreting the statue behind us.

"Lions and tigers and bears, OH MY!"

Ava loved "Taylor" so much that she had to hold his hand... The entire time.
(I wasn't even jealous.)
Sophie was teething and this is the only thing Ava would touch, the fur.
The animals didn't come alive... Success!
